Both the Four Horsemen (Rev. 6:1-8) and the Two Witnesses (Rev. 11:3-12) of the Revelation have a lot in common:
1. Both are strongly associated with the Four Living Creatures or Cherubim who are "standing before the Lord of the earth" or at the Throne of God (Hes. 1:10).
The Four Horsemen:
Rev. 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
Zech. 6:5 And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.
The Two Witnesses:
Rev. 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
Zech. 4:14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
2. Both are actually four
The Two Witnesses "are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks" (Rev. 11:4), so there are a total of four of them, as there are Horsemen.
3. Both have the power to kill ungodly people and smite the earth with all plagues
The Four Horsemen:
Rev. 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Rev. 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
The Two Witnesses:
11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rev.
Zechariah says that the four horses (and their chariots) are also the four winds of heaven, or Spirits:
Zech. 6:5 And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.
These four winds are said to be held back by angels after the opening of the sixth seal, so that they will not yet use their power to harm the earth and the sea until servants of God are marked with a Seal in their foreheads:
7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Rev.
The Two Witnesses are again given power to harm the earth and the sea, and that ends before the seventh trumpet is blown:
Rev. 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Therefore it is possible that the Four Horsemen and the Two Witnesses of Revelation are the same.
